CA: Turlock Irrigation District caps NEM program at 5%
Turlock Irrigation District Board of Directors voted unanimously on 9/23/2014 to approve a resolution capping the utility’s NEM program at 5% of aggregate customer peak demand, according to local news media. TID will discuss at public hearing on 12/2/2014 details of how new customer-generators will be treated after the 5% NEM cap (27.8 MW) is reached. California law provides that certain utilities are not obligated to provide NEM to additional customers when the aggregate NEM capacity in the utility’s service territory exceeds 5% of the utility’s aggregate customer peak demand. TID provides electricity to approximately 98,000 customers in a 662-square-mile service area that includes portions of Stanislaus, Merced, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties.
