DC: RPS revised, PV permit fees set
The District of Columbia has enacted legislation (B20-750) that makes permanent certain revisions to the District’s RPS and solar-permitting process that were established by temporary legislation enacted in July 2014. The new law allows solar facilities larger than 5 MW and located on property owned by the District (or a related agency) to qualify for the existing RPS solar carve-out, and allows solar facilities that do not qualify for the solar carve-out to qualify for the RPS as a Tier I resource instead. For residential and commercial PV systems up to 15 kW, permit fees have been set at $250 and $300, respectively. For larger systems, the fee is calculated based on the system’s capacity.
