Chris Cook (alumnus)
Mr. Cook, formerly of counsel to Keyes, Fox & Wiedman, has departed the firm to focus his efforts on a startup company financing and developing battery storage projects to support distributed solar PV installations.
The new company, Solar Grid Storage, LLC, intends to operate the batteries to support certain electric grid balancing functions including smoothing solar power output to better integrate power production with customer and grid requirements. The new company will develop a consortium of tax equity finance partners interested in financing the battery operations in order to seamlessly integrate batteries into new tax financed solar projects. Solar Grid Storage has developed financial models for battery storage revenues that demonstrate adding batteries to solar projects can improve the return on many solar energy investments while lowering solar energy costs. The company is currently in discussions with nationally renowned battery and inverter manufacturers to refine their products to deploy in these new opportunities.
